A unique story comes from Italy, where a Swiss decided to leave his hometown to live as a homeless person in Milan.
But with his side trailing 4-1, Bantle headed for the San Siro toilets. Found in a giant plant, the fan loses his way and on his way back finds himself in another sector of the stadium, thus losing contact with his friends. Thousands of people at the exit of San Siro create a big mess and he still can’t find his friends, while he doesn’t even have a phone with him.
Finding himself in a difficult situation, with only 20 francs and 15 euros in his pocket, Bantle, 60 years old at the time, made an even more difficult decision. He decided to leave his life in Switzerland, since, as he himself says, there was nothing waiting for him in his hometown. In this form, it turns into a homeless person on the streets of Milan, precisely in an area near the San Siro stadium.
Bantle says that the Milanese were very kind to him, giving him cigarettes and food, and one student even gave him a mattress to sleep on. On the other hand, the Swiss police register him in the missing persons register.
But, in 2015, Bantle’s life takes another turn after an accident injures his knee and he is forced to go to the hospital, where it is revealed that he was a Swiss citizen. The Red Cross requests his return to Switzerland, to Basel, and so it happens. Now, Bantle lives in his country, but in an asylum for the elderly while adding that 11 years in Italy were enough for him./ Super Sport
