Last night, Ukraine, which was represented by the Kalush Orchestra with the song “Stefania”, received the “Eurovision 2022” trophy. The second place was taken by the United Kingdom and the third by Spain.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has reacted due to irregularities in the voting process.
The European Broadcasting Union has announced in an official statement that the 40 countries that participated in “Eurovision 2022” have announced the votes of their professional juries, while Alessandro Cattelan, Laura Pausini and Mika have been noticed with voting irregularities.
Due to alleged manipulation attempts, the European Broadcasting Union withdrew the jury votes from six countries.
They were replaced by a summary result based on similar voting places in both the second semi-final and the grand final.
Votes from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino were all replaced with the new result.
“In order to comply with the voting instructions of the competition, the EBU worked with its voting partner to calculate a total replacement result for each country in question for both the second semi-final and the grand final (calculated on the basis of of the results of other countries with similar voting data). This process was accepted by the Independent Voting Monitor. The EBU takes every suspected attempt to manipulate Eurovision voting extremely seriously and has the right to withdraw these votes in accordance with the Official Voting Guidelines, regardless of whether or not such votes may affect the results and / or the outcome of voting ” said in the EBU statement.
