During the last week alone, the Tirana road has handcuffed 33 people, suspended 249 driving licenses, and imposed over 6800 administrative measures.
33 drivers were handcuffed, specifically for driving while intoxicated or without a driving license, for leaving the scene of an accident or for driving in an irregular manner, with consequences for the life and health of road users.
Meanwhile, 14 cases of “Active corruption against persons exercising public functions” have been hit. The Traffic Police services were caught red-handed, using the phone while driving or without wearing a seat belt, 14 drivers who, in order to escape the administrative measure, tried to corrupt the Police employees, offering them sums of money. A case of “Forgery of official documents” was also hit.
Also, 249 driving licenses were suspended, divided according to violations:
48 on “Driving under the influence of alcohol”,
186 on “Speed Limits”,
15 for other violations of the Road Code.
19 pairs of modified license plates were recovered, which did not belong to the vehicle or were deregistered in the countries of origin; 26 vehicles were blocked for lack of documentation.
6852 administrative measures have been imposed, with an average of 977 measures imposed per day, namely:
125 measures for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages;
65 measures for non-speed regulation / speed racing;
326 measures for erroneous overtaking;
1146 measures for the use of the mobile device while driving;
418 measures for not wearing a seat belt;
132 measures for not wearing a protective helmet;
2982 measures for wrong stay / rest of the vehicle;
46 administrative measures for lack of insurance;
1612 measures for various violations.
