The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, received in a special meeting a delegation from Italy, consisting of senators and deputies of the Italian parliament, headed by Antonio Tasso.
They discussed the relationship between the two countries and new opportunities to further these relations.
“I am very proud of what we have achieved, not only between states, but also between our cities. Relations between Italy and Albania are at the best possible level. Italy has welcomed Albanians, treated them with love and respect, and today Albanians are a success story there. I look forward to taking this report further. Italy has elections in September and we are looking forward to the new configuration of the government and its elected representatives in the Chamber of Deputies, as well as in the Senate, so that we can continue the good relations”, said Veliaj.
MP Antonio Tasso said that Tirana is a city that should be taken as an example for anyone seeking development.
“Tirana is a wonderful city. We noticed marked improvements from the other times we’ve been here. It is a city that should be taken as an example for anyone looking for development. You have moved on quickly and you have done very well. We hope to meet again in the future and to further strengthen the ties between our countries and cities”, said Antonio Tasso, Italian MP.
Tirana and the Region of Puglia will also have a series of activities within the framework of the European Youth Capital and the Mediterranean Games.
