The African heat wave is moving from Europe towards Albania and the countries of the region. In Great Britain, historical records were set with temperatures that reached 40 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists say that our country will also experience scorching temperatures, but not the highest in history.
“Starting from Thursday (tomorrow), our country will enter the center of the wave. Hot days are forecast, at least from today until the end of July. Until the 28th, 29th, we remain under the influence of this wave, which will culminate at the weekend. The thermometer in some areas will mark 42 degrees Celsius, easily above 42 degrees, while almost all of the Western Lowlands remain in values between 35 and 39 degrees. Even a good part of the mountainous areas in the northeast, Malësia e Madhe, Kopliku, Hasi, Kukësi, Burreli, Bulqiza, remain at very high temperatures. Only the southeastern area, Korça, Pogradeci, Erseka, is slightly cooler, with temperatures fluctuating at 33-34-35 degrees. Although these values are very high, at least in Albania they are not expected to break the historical record of 44.4 degrees Celsius in Kuçovo in 1970.
There is then a withdrawal of the wave in early August, but we will undoubtedly have heat waves as we are in the middle of summer.
As for the front of the wind, which is helping the flames in the areas of Lezha and Vlora, it will be present in the afternoon, and at certain moments, for 2-3 hours, it will reach a speed of 45 km per hour, which that will complicate the situation, as it can expand the fire map. Also, the temperatures are not favorable at all, given that we still have no signal of precipitation in our territory.”- said Lajda Porja
