France, which took over the six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union from Slovenia on January 1st, will be an example in implementing measures against the coronavirus epidemic, French authorities announced today on the page dedicated to the EU presidency.
To respond in a timely manner to the development of the coronavirus situation, meetings of officials of the French authorities at the head of the EU presidency and representatives in Brussels will be held every week.
In this way, recommendations will be formulated for the format of meetings within the EU presidency, which will be held in France. These recommendations will be valid for only four weeks and will then be revised accordingly to the epidemiological situation.
Depending on the coronavirus epidemic, appointments will be virtual, with physical presence or a combination of both formats. In line with the current epidemiological situation, the cabinet of French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced that until January 23 in the country will be held only very important meetings with physical presence, with a reduced number of delegations.
French authorities added that foreign delegations coming to France will have to comply with valid travel rules, the statement said.
