A few days after the “Open Balkan” summit, which this time was held in Serbia, today in Pristina was held the meeting between the government of Kosovo and that of Albania.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti has insisted on rejecting the “Open Balkans” initiative, while Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has criticized that with this election, he is only losing.
But the distance criticism was forgotten this Monday when the two prime ministers met in the Kosovo capital.
In a discussion on the show “Top Talk”, analysts Ilir Yzeiri and Milaim Zeka argued why three major issues for Kosovo, NATO membership, EU integration and ‘Open Balkan’ were not part of the talks between the two governments.
“Rama is now meeting with Kurti in Prishtina and they are talking as if it did not happen and suddenly”, says Yzeiri.
While according to Zeka, it is better that these major issues of Kosovo are not discussed, as they would be misused by Serbia or Russia.
Some agreements signed today, such as the crossing of the border by Albanian and Kosovo citizens on weekends and national holidays, without the need to register at border police stations or obtain Albanian citizenship for Kosovo citizens, analysts consider dangerous .
“Albanians have achieved a lot, for the first time their voice is being heard in the Balkans. This is undoubtedly the century of Albanians, but we must not forget the help of internationals. We can not distribute passports now and melt the border, becoming charlatans.
Kosovo in any case has its own identity. We must fight for Kosovo as it is, to gain dignity as a normal state, as we are “says Yzeiri.
According to him, counting passports does not solve the problem.
“It simply came to our notice then. So that tomorrow, when we are in the European Union and there is no other identity that can divide us, we will unite not for the sake of the passport, but for the sake of the fact that we are a nation and we have been unjustly divided”.
Journalist Zeka assesses the freedom of Kosovo citizens to already choose citizenship as anti-Kosovo.
“It is anti-Kosovo because the Russian-Serbian circles will say in the European Parliament and in Brussels, this is where the political leaders of Kosovo and Albania have their final goal. That is why it is anti-Soviet, what the hell do we need such statements, because after all, when we were imprisoned for watching Albanian television, today you are on the Albanian coast for two hours. We have never been better.
It is an agreement to dismantle Kosovo, to remove the borders and Kosovo no longer exists. You can not undo an entire nation, make them all Albanian citizens. And then, what will Kosovo be called? “Identities are temporary, what does not change is the essence of that identity.”
Kosovo is using the policy of victimization and this is wrong, says the journalist.
“From Kosovo, I would like the nationalist rhetoric and the rhetoric of the victim to be used with restriction. Becoming a victim of the day, victimization, only complicates the integration process. “Kosovo’s problems with Serbia should be solved without feeling, without making politics of the day and without being victimized.”
