The lifting of anti-covid restrictions for the tourist season has filled the beaches full of vacationers, but the new wave of infections has also affected them.
With mild or moderate symptoms, vacationers come to the summer health centers open along the beaches of Durrës from Gjiri i Lalëzi to Shkëmbi i Kavaja.
“There are foreign tourists who have tested positive, from Kosovo, Italy, Russia, Ukraine. There are many different ones. In these cases, we do the test, we give them the medication and we tell the foreigners to come here so we can follow them and the residents go to the health centers”, said Ylfete Sema, doctor at Currila Hospital.
In the Currilove summer center, it turns out that almost all positive cases are unvaccinated and young people, while there are no shortage of surprises. There are patients who, in addition to being vaccinated, are afraid to perform the tampon as well.
“The young ages. Even those who come from abroad. They have no faith. Even the tampon is difficult, because they think they get the infection through the tampon. It is psychological“, said the doctor.
Even in the Durrës hospital’s emergency room, the number of people sick with Covid and who need treatment is increasing significantly.
Officially, there are about 470 active cases in the Durrës region. However, vacationers continue to stay on the coast calmly, but now more cautious.
“I am an Italian pensioner and I live here. I enjoy the beach and the house, I don’t go to bars. I always take care and I am vaccinated”.
“For protective measures and hygiene, we must consider everyone, then vaccination is a personal decision. I am vaccinated and I am concerned as we all need to be protected. And if we protect ourselves, we have also protected others”.
“It’s scary, but if you keep your distance from each other, I don’t have a problem.”
In addition to vaccination, doctors appeal to the infected and when they do not have symptoms to avoid gatherings and to wear a mask when they are in common areas.
