Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded today with irony to the accusations of the Democratic Party that he has spent 120 thousand euros for a trip for fun.
The opposition accuses the head of government that he has recently made a luxury charter trip with the money of Albanian taxpayers and has traveled to Europe with a charter for which 120 thousand euros have been paid only for fuel.
Rama has answered all the questions and accusations received from the PD deputy, Oriola Pampuri!
MP Orjola Pampuri: Rama has traveled by private charter, not to solve any problem of Albanians but for his own pleasure. Edi Rama spends Albanian tax money.
Prime Minister Edi Rama: In fact no, I am the first prime minister in this country that my very rare private trips with my family, I never do at the expense of the state.
MP Orjola Pampuri: Do you use the private charter to give an interview to “Manager Magazine”?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: No, I used the Lufthansa economic seats with a round-trip ticket, together with my wife and young son.
MP Orjola Pampuri: How much money did you spend only on the charter in this luxury trip?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: The Lufthansa economic ticket cost 345 Euros.
MP Orjola Pampuri: Who signed for his travels? Who paid for them?
Prime Minister Edi Rama: The average annual expenditure for my official trips, which are paid from the Prime Minister’s fund, is lower than the annual average expenditure of my predecessors, for the simple reason that they traveled in business class while I have traveled almost entirely in economics, except in some special cases – the same for ministers. Meanwhile, since 2020, when we had the OSCE presidency, an agreement was made with Air Albania and spending for 2021 was below the average of previous years.
MP Orjola Pampuri: Only for the fuel of a fun trip of Edi Rama, 120 thousand euros are spent from the money of Albanians.
Prime Minister Edi Rama: The highest annual amount of expenses for my official travels was 4,623,089 lek in 2014. While the figure of 120 thousand euros of fuel for a private flight is a product of the same science-fiction arithmetic, since 1958 seats of the Palace of Congresses drew 5004 delegates. If you multiply these delegates by 30 and then subtract 30, you get a fixed 120 thousand euros of fuel for 7 × 7 locks, equal to 42 flights.
