Turkey reported 9,193 new cases of coronavirus, including 621 symptomatic patients, and another 71 deaths. The total number of cases has gone to over 2.7 million, while the number of deaths to 28,503, according to the Ministry of Health.
About 8,938 other patients have won their battle against the virus, bringing the total number of cured to over 2.6 million. The number of patients with COVID-19 in critical condition stands at 1,187, the latest figures showed. Over 33 million tests have been done in Turkey so far, including 125,716 over the past day.
Meanwhile, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, in a Twitter post, shared a report in a foreign media praising Turkey’s vaccination efforts. “The number of foreign countries evaluating our fight against COVID-19 is increasing. We are not making efforts for world estimates. Our effort is for the health and well-being of our citizens. “The appreciation of the world is precious, but the trust of our nation is more precious,” he said.
On January 14th, Turkey launched a massive vaccination campaign against COVID-19. According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, more than 8.5 million coronavirus vaccines have been distributed in the country so far. To date, over 6.86 million people have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, while over 1.7 million people have received the second dose of the vaccine.
