Tricky Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has asked his Russian counterpart, Sergei Shoigu, to end the war urgently, for humanitarian reasons.
In a phone call, Akar told Shoig that Turkey would continue its efforts for regional peace and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, writes The Guardian.
On Monday, Turkey said it had urged all countries not to cross its straits into the Black Sea under a 1936 pact, restricting the passage of some Russian warships.
