Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Turkey wants Ukraine’s independence recognized and is working hard to achieve peace.
Among other things, he says, Turkey has strong ties with Ukraine and Russia. For this reason, the war is affecting Turkey, as well as other countries of the world.
“We strongly opposed the annexation of Crimea in 2014. If the world had given the right response to the annexation of Crimea, then we would not be in this situation today.” added Çavuşoğlu.
He believes both sides are close to an agreement. Ukraine’s independence is among the conditions discussed, and Turkey wants to be recognized as an independent state to end the war.
