The general staff of the Ukrainian Army claimed that over 14,000 Russian troops had been killed during the first three weeks of the Russian occupation of Ukraine.
Through a Facebook post, Ukrainian officials said close to 14,400 Russian soldiers had been killed.
The post also said that Moscow had lost military equipment, including 1,470 armored personnel carriers, 60 tanks and over 100 fighter jets and helicopters.
These claims could not be independently confirmed, although Western intelligence sources have suggested that close to 7,000 bodies were killed and between 14,000 and 21,000 others injured.
The announcement comes on the day Ukrainian forces also claimed to have killed the fifth Russian general.

Lieutenant General Andrei Mordvichev would be the highest-ranking Russian commander killed in the war to date, although even this news has not been independently verified.
Russia launched its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine on February 24. In response, the West has imposed harsh sanctions on Moscow.
