Ukrainian staff at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant are the focus of concerns of UN nuclear watchdogs.
In a statement, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said the situation there has recently been exacerbated by the difficult conditions it is facing.
“IAEA is aware of recent media reports showing a deteriorating situation for Ukrainian staff at the country’s largest nuclear power plant. We are increasingly concerned about the difficult conditions facing staff.” stated in the notice.
In March, the world narrowly avoided a nuclear catastrophe after Russian forces attacked Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine and ignited a fire.
According to the UN nuclear watchdog, no radioactive material was released.
While Russian forces have continued to occupy the plant near the Dnieper River, Ukrainian staff is still operating it.
