Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky turned down an offer from Washington to help evacuate him from Ukraine, US media reported.
“The war is here – I need ammunition, not travel,” Zelensky said, according to the Associated Press, citing a senior intelligence official.
The Washington Post also quotes US and Ukrainian officials as saying that the US government is prepared to help Zelenskyn.
“When you attack us, you will see our faces, not our backs,” Zelensky told the Russian military on Thursday.
“We are all here and we will stay that way,” he said in a video posted on Facebook, where he appeared accompanied by his top aides.
