A USB with personal data of over 465 thousand people, including bank account numbers has been lost in Japan.
An employee of a company that helped distribute financial support for COVID-19 in Amagasaki, Hyogo prefecture, lost a bag containing a USB stick, according to CNN.
It contained the personal data of 465,177 persons who are registered and living in Amagasaki.
The employee informed members of the security forces that he had lost his bag after dinner at a restaurant.
USB contains the user’s personal information, including names, addresses, dates of birth and bank account numbers.
He has a password and still has no clue that the aforementioned information has been leaked.
The municipality of Amagasaki said it would take care of information security, raise awareness of the importance of preserving personal data, and regain citizens’ trust.
