Some dramatic footage has been released of Russia’s latest Su-57 anti-radar fighter jet, testing the on-board machine gun fire, believed to be one of the latest additions to the advanced weapons on the elite vehicle.
The fighter has been tested with short-range and medium-range missiles, while traditional machine guns remain an important part of Russian air weapons.
The location and date of the tests were not clear but the eight-second video was originally posted on the social network Telegram before being posted on Youtube.
The unpainted Su-57 fighter used for the test is seen using the upgraded 30mm GSh-30-1 machine gun, otherwise known as the 9-A-4071K. The weapon with a single barrel is adjusted to the side of the body and holds 150 blows, which it releases in a few seconds.
Russia, unlike the US, continues to carry single-barreled machine guns on its fighter jets, compared to the 20mm M61 Vulcan rotary machine guns long used by US fighter jets.
As seen GSh-30-1 is fired at a single target to calculate the accuracy of the weapon.
