For 11 years, Albanians have been traveling without visas to European Union countries.
On December 15, 2010, the decision of the European Parliament on the abolition of visas for Albanian citizens traveling to European Union countries entered into force.
On November 8, 2010, the Council of Ministers of Justice and Interior of the European Union approved at noon the visa liberalization for Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This decision paves the way for the free movement of Albanians in the 27 countries of the Schengen area.
This was a historic event for Albanians, although there are a number of conditions that must be respected. An Albanian citizen cannot stay in the Schengen area for more than 90 days for 180 calendar days.
