The head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla said that the publication of the database with salaries and personal data of Albanian citizens is a criminal event.
Balla told reporters that the Prosecution should investigate not only in this case, but should put in the “sieve” those institutions or companies that have raised doubts about the concealment of salary declarations.
“In all these years I have drawn conclusions that when the Prosecution enters the investigation, none of us should make comments. Persons involved in this serious criminal event, an attempt to destabilize the situation created in private companies. I think we need to understand that the digital society is vulnerable to data leakage. Stronger and bigger states, the US has fallen prey to cyber attacks. This is a cyber attack and data leak. I think the greatest punishment should be done in this case to be prevented in the future. Justice institutions, I think need to investigate the concealment of statements and false statements, does well a full investigation of all this crime which has damaged the relationship between the employee and the employer.
“The data publication scandal occurred in 2009. So naturally banks have very important banking secrecy in their work. Attempting to destabilize the employee-employer relationship is criminal. The police and the Prosecution think you are reacting in a timely manner. I want to come up with a concrete idea. I have browsed all the European legislation on personal data these days. We need to change the laws on penalties for personal data protection. We have softer laws than European ones. The fines imposed when someone breaks the inviolability of personal data are very low here. In future parliamentary legislation, it will be in focus. It’s the right thing to do in response to such attacks, to strengthen the law of punishments“- said Balla.
