There are about 150 thousand citizens from Russia and Ukraine who visited our country last year according to INSTAT. The war between the two countries and the closure of airspace for Russian citizens could bring great financial damage to tourism, according to the president of the Albanian Tourist Union, Rrahman Kasa:
“If we make an estimate, on average a tourist spends 100 euros per day, there are around 100 million euros that our economy will lack. “Hotels are more affected because the rooms are blocked and some companies have prepaid for them, we do not know what to do in these conditions.”
If the war continues, the impact could be even greater, as Belarus and Poland are also indirectly affected by the war:
“Even from Belarus we do not have good signals for the season due to the pro-Russian orientation of this country. “Also, if there is an exodus of emigrants from Ukraine to Poland, this market, which is the largest in our country, may be affected.”
Ukrainians are a market that have been growing more and more over the last five years. They were among the first groups along with the Belarusians to come to our country, due to Covid unrestricted policy, thus becoming an important market in the country with almost 20 charter planes coming to the country every week.
