Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka told Top Channel in the central news edition that NATO troops would increase in eastern countries that could feel threatened by Russian attacks.
“It was an extraordinary meeting, attended not only by Borrell, but also by representatives from Finland, NATO has responded to the crisis. NATO is a defense alliance and not a party to the conflict in Ukraine. Measures have been taken to increase NATO capabilities, there is a decision to activate NATO forces, mainly in the eastern countries bordering Ukraine, which feel endangered. “It was underlined several times on camera, even after the cameras that NATO Article 5 is non-negotiable, NATO will protect every inch of the allied countries.”stressed the Minister.
After the extraordinary NATO meeting, the Minister stressed that this alliance conveys the messages properly so as not to escalate the aggravated situation in Ukraine.
“Anything can happen given that we are dealing with actors, powerful countries that have the potential to wage a war, this in itself is a strong deterrent to the escalation of the war, NATO conveys the message properly to not escalating a conflict, whether with combat or humanitarian assistance, continuing a preventative approach to leaving a path open for talks. “We will hear a lot in the Security Council that there was an unprecedented decision, the first in 40 years of unprovoked aggression against a neighboring country.” said Xhaçka.
Xhaçka added that the opening of negotiations between Albania and Northern Macedonia with the European Union is important for the security of the region.
“We will continue to see a lot of pressure on Russia to end this. EU integration important for regional security, opening of negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia“, Said Xhaçka.
Tensions in Ukraine have risen as we approach the ninth day of the Russian offensive.
The two rounds of talks between the two countries were without concrete results, while last night it seems that the thick ice barrier was broken after the delegations shook hands. It is not yet known what the fate of Ukraine will be, as the third round of talks is expected to take place over the weekend.
