The repulse of Russian troops on Wednesday by Ukrainian soldiers on the border in Kharkiv is increasingly worrying Moscow, Ukrainian officials say.
Although a small victory for them, Ukrainian officials say Russian forces still have enough power for another attack in the area.
The most active battles on Wednesday took place further south of the country in the direction of Luhansk. In the cities of Rubizhne, Severodonetsk. While the Russians are also trying to take territory in the city of Izium in the Donetsk region, but there has been little movement on the ground.
Russian missiles also hit two areas of the city of Sloviansk in eastern Ukraine. Sloviansk is the main target of Russian forces trying to repel their attack south in the Donetsk region and has been a key focus since Russia revised its strategy away from northern Ukraine in early April. Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, from Vienna, said that the solution to the conflict will come only after a conversation with Putin.
“If you want to solve a problem, you have to deal with those who caused it. “That’s why we need to talk to the Russian leader and every other important actor in resolving the crisis.”
However President zelensky during an address at the institute of poctical studies in Paris, said that the desire to negotiate with the Russians fades more and more whenever they notice scenes like the one in Bucha.
“We are ready to do these negotiations, these talks, while it is not too late yet. But with every new Bucha, with every new Mariupol, with every city where there are dozens of dead, cases of rape, new atrocities, the desire and opportunity to negotiate disappears, and with it the possibility of resolving this issue in diplomatically. ”- said Zelensky.
US intelligence said on Tuesday that Russia was likely preparing for a long war and that a Russian victory in the Donbas region might not end the war.
