The northern Ukrainian village of Jahidne has been occupied by Russian soldiers for almost a month.
When the Russians entered there, they are believed to have taken the men, women and children from their homes and sent them to the basement of a school for four weeks. About 130 people lived in a room of 65 square meters.
“I had half a meter of space. I slept on my feet “, Mykola Klymchuk told the BBC. “I tied myself with a scarf to keep from falling off. I spent 25 nights like that “. Mykola confessed that he did not dare to move for fear of falling on people. When people died, their bodies were not removed immediately.
Russian soldiers have not allowed such a thing every day. Now that the Russian army has withdrawn from northern Ukraine, it is becoming increasingly clear how horrific the suffering of the civilian population has been. Many victims are also being evacuated in Borodyanka, near Kiev. Anxiety and nothing awaits those who return.
“It’s awful. We worked all our lives, we barely raised some money and now we are back and everything is ruined. And yet, we are considered lucky to be alive. “says Nadia.
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Iryna Venediktova, has announced that 26 victims have been evacuated from only two destroyed buildings. How many victims there is is still unclear-. According to previous data of the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office, most of the victims are found on the territory of Kiev. Venediktova said that every war crime and crimes against humanity will be documented and those responsible will be brought to justice.
Sexual violence has also been confirmed in Borodyanka, says the Ukrainian prosecution. When this is the situation here, think about what will happen, when the world finds out, what the Russian troops have done in Mariupol. There he finds “almost every street” what the world saw after the withdrawal of Russian troops in Butsha, says President Volodymir Zelensky.
