The flames rose to the skies in the early hours of today after Ukrainian missile strikes blew up two oil depots used to supply Russian troops engaged in the battle for control of Donbas.
The Transneft-Druzhba depot, located in the town of Bryansk about 70 miles from the Ukrainian border, was engulfed in flames at 2 a.m. local time and 15 minutes later, a second fire broke out at a nearby military facility about 15 p.m. minutes later. The video of the moment of the attack also included the sound of a rocket hitting the object turning it into a ball of fire.
Bryansk is a key logistics hub for Russian forces fighting Ukraine in the Donbas, while the Druzhba pipeline is one of the main routes for Russian oil to reach Europe. The blasts came after British intelligence announced that Russia had ‘still much to do to make significant progress’ against the Donbas defense lines, as Ukraine imposed a ‘significant cost’ on Putin’s forces.
Britain’s defense ministry says weak logistical and combat support is hampering the advance of Moscow’s military, as was the failed attempt to take Kiev. Two months after the start of Russian aggression in Ukraine, attacks have not stopped. .
Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian forces were constantly bombing Mariupol, even though Kiev had asked Moscow to accept a “real Easter ceasefire.” Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that its high-precision missiles hit nine Ukrainian military targets, including four weapons depots in the Kharkiv region. The rockets also hit residential areas in the port city of Odessa.
According to local Ukrainian officials at least five people were killed and 18 others injured after rockets hit two apartment buildings in Odessa. Eight people were also killed in Russian attacks in the Luhansk region.
