Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday called on all citizens who were ready to defend the country from Russian forces, saying Kiev would give weapons to anyone who wanted them.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by land, air and sea on Thursday, one state’s biggest offensive against a state in Europe since World War II and confirmation of the West’s worst fears.
Zelenskiy called on the Russians to come out and protest against the war.
Russia has launched an invasion of Ukraine from the Donbas, killing seven and wounding nine so far.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said this morning that Russia had begun invading his country.
In a Twitter post, Kuleba wrote that Russian President Vladimir Putin has launched “full-scale occupation of Ukraine.”
He said Ukraine would defend itself and that “the world can and must stop Putin.”
“Ukraine’s peaceful cities are under attack. “This is a war of aggression,” said Kuleba.
