Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of pursuing a Nazi-like way of fighting.
In a speech commemorating World War II, he said the Russian military was repeating Nazi “atrocities” during the invasion of his country.
“Darkness has returned to Ukraine and has become black and white again. “Evil has returned, in different uniforms, with different slogans, but for the same purpose.” he said in his video address.
In the video he also featured archived footage of World War II and black-and-white footage of the Russian occupation.
Zelensky’s references to Nazism appear to be an attempt to turn Vladimir Putin’s language against him.
Russia has justified its offensive in Ukraine as a “special operation” to “demilitarize” and “denationalize” its neighbor.
