Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a virtual speech to members of the US House of Representatives and Senate. Before speaking, Zelensky was applauded by US lawmakers and praised the bravery of his Ukrainian people, saying “the fate of his country” is being decided right now.
Zelensky mentioned the Pearl Harbor attacks and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in his speech to U.S. lawmakers.
“Russia has not only attacked us, not only our land, not only our cities. Russia threw tanks and planes against our freedom, against our right to live freely in our country, choosing our future. Against our desire for happiness, against our national dream, just like the same dreams you Americans have, like everyone else in the United States.
“I remember your national memorial in Rushmore, the faces of your distinguished presidents, those who laid the foundations of the United States of America, democracy, independence, freedom and care for all, for every person, for everyone who works.” said Zelensky.
