Volodymyr Zelensky thwarted Russia’s 15-point plan, insisting that his country’s priority was “restoring his country’s territorial integrity.”
The Kremlin drafted an agreement listing its demands for an end to the occupation, which, as it had previously warned, included Moscow’s recognition of annexed Crimea and Donbas’s independence.
But Zelensky seems to disagree with all the proposals despite the fact that Russian forces continue to bomb Ukrainian cities, sowing chaos and destruction everywhere.
“Talks on Ukraine continue. My priorities are very clear: End of the war, guarantee of security, sovereignty, restoration of territorial integrity, real protection for our country“, Said Zelensky.
The 15-point peace plan included: Immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian troops, neutrality for Ukraine and end to NATO membership bid, limitation of Ukrainian armed forces: Kiev may have army, but can not host military base of a foreign power, Guarantee for Russian-speaking minorities in Ukraine.
The issue of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk seems to remain one of the most difficult points of discussion. Zelensky insists that peace negotiations should lead to a just agreement for Ukraine, which will provide it with the necessary protection from future threats.
A day after addressing the US Congress, the Ukrainian president addressed the German Bundestag, urging Germany to tear down a new wall, the one that the Russian occupation of Ukraine erected in Europe.
“I thank Germany for its help, but the help came too late to stop the war. You wanted to do business with Russia, and now here we are, in the midst of the conflict. You were still defending yourself behind a wall, so much so that you could not see what we are experiencing“, Said Zelensky.
He called on German lawmakers to curb Russian aggression and impose tougher sanctions on Moscow, saying peace was more important than money.
