State Department spokesman Ned Price, in his statement about the gruesome event in Bucha where dozens of civilians were killed, hinted that there will soon be additional sanctions against Russia, which will be applied very soon.
“When it comes to our sanctions, we have always said that we will continue to put pressure on President Putin, on the Kremlin, on everyone around him, including the oligarchs and friends who are empowering this chosen war against Ukraine, until and if the Kremlin shrinks, until and if the violence shrinks, and until these kinds of atrocities end. So I say you will soon see the extra pressure applied, “Price told MSNBC on Sunday.
“When it comes to these images from Bucha, we have already assessed that Russian forces have committed war crimes. What we are doing, we are gathering information. One, to shed light on exactly what they are doing, but two, to ensure that all those who committed these atrocities and all those who ordered these atrocities are held accountable. This is our mission “he added.
Shocking images emerged from Bucha on Saturday of at least 20 civilians dead and lined up in a single street. The photos were published on the same day Ukraine declared the city liberated from Russian troops. Accounts of alleged Russian atrocities are emerging as its forces withdraw from areas near Kiev after a failed attempt to encircle the capital.
