Ukrainian authorities say they have found a new mass grave with civilian bodies near Buchas, in the Kiev region.
According to local police, the bodies of seven civilians were found near the village of Myrotske; many of them were “handcuffed and had gunshot wounds to the knees.”
The statement said that before the execution, civilians were tortured. Identification operations are ongoing, while the Prosecution announced that a war crimes investigation has been launched immediately.
Western and Ukrainian officials have repeatedly spoken of growing evidence of what they call systematic atrocities and war crimes being committed by Russian forces as they withdraw from parts of Ukraine.
In an interview with German television, ZDF, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky blasted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, urging him to take a clearer position on Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“The head of the German federal government and his executive must decide and not try to maintain balance with Russia. “We need Chancellor Scholz to ensure that Germany supports Ukraine.”– said Zelensky
Germany has started sending weapons later than neighboring countries. This is a fact, Zelensky added, according to which Berlin and Paris initially supported Ukraine only politically and rhetorically. Scholz dismissed criticism that Germany is acting too slowly in sending heavy weapons to Ukraine. “We will send all the weapons we have agreed on, but they are very heavy weapons. “You have to learn to use them, you have to be trained,” he said, adding that Ukrainian soldiers are being trained in Germany.
