A newborn giraffe surprised visitors yesterday with a quick backstage at Taronga Zoo in Australia.
Visitors were the first to spot the little male puppy amidst the tall grass, accompanied by caregiver Bobby-Jo Vial.
She points out that the weather the day before was foggy, so she knew something could have happened, referring to the birth of the cub.
Giraffes are believed to coincide with the birth of puppies with imperfect weather conditions, such as storms or other unusual conditions, to help poor puppies survive predator attacks.
This was the seventh cub for mother giraffe Ntombi, while his father Mtoto was transferred to the breeding section of the zoo from 2019 to increase the genetic diversity of giraffes.
The giraffe population has been declining in the last decade due to habitat loss, illegal hunting, traps and wars, writes the Daily Mail.
