President Joe Biden promised today that he would ensure there are more COVID tests in various countries, mostly health centers and hospitals, at a time when Omicron is expanding rapidly in the United States and threatening to overwhelm patients.
Biden said his administration’s steps include using the Defense Production Act to increase test production and facilitate Google’s use of the nearest test site, Reuters reports.
The President of the United States acknowledged that the efforts so far have been sufficient. “Looking at how difficult it was for some people to get tested this week, we realize we still have work to do. It is clear that we do not have enough tests. “If we had known, we would have worked harder and faster,” Biden said.
He also warned state governors that the growing number of patients would likely invade some hospitals whose staff and medical equipment as respirators could be used to the maximum, especially in areas of the U.S. where the majority of the population has not been vaccinated.
