The United States has recorded more than a million deaths from Covid-19, President Joe Biden said Thursday, as cities like New York are still struggling to recover despite threats of another rise in infections.
“This pandemic is not over yet. Today we mark a tragic figure here in the United States: One million deaths from Covid, one million empty chairs around the family dinner table, each irreplaceable loss. “Each leaving behind a family, a community, which changed forever because of this pandemic.” – said Biden
Biden said this coming summer is an opportunity to take control of the pandemic.
“This summer is an opportunity to renew our efforts when it comes to taking control of this pandemic and preventing future health crises. So we have to invest now. We need to start working as hard as we can to prevent the next variant and the next pandemic now. Therefore, which of us should be careful not to lower our vigilance. ” tha Biden.
In recent weeks, the United States has seen an increase in the number of daily cases of the virus, largely due to the new Omicron subvariant.
