This book makes an in-depth analysis of socialism as an ideology, including the communist extremism in Albania, which the author calls ‘enverism’. In the mid-1970s, in Marxist circles ‘Enverism’ became the new Maoism.
Enverist parties, such as Britain’s (Marxist-Leninist) Revolutionary Communist Party, were formed throughout the Western world, including the United States, Canada, France, West Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Spain, and Italy.
Failed system, or incorrectly applied? Socialism, surprisingly, is insensitive to the evidence of its failure, which brings real-world experiences. Over the past hundred years there have been more than two dozen attempts to build a socialist society, ranging from the Soviet Union to Maoist China and Venezuela. But all these efforts, to varying degrees have ended in failure. According to supporters of socialism, this happened because none of these experiments took place ‘real socialism’. This book documents the history of this phenomenon, which has now become a standard answer. He shows how the claim to a false socialism has always been raised only after its failure.
As long as any socialist experiment flourishes, almost no one questions his socialist credentials. On the contrary! Virtually all socialist regimes have had their own honeymoon, during which they have been enthusiastically raised to the skies by many prominent Western intellectuals. Only when their failures were so obvious that they could no longer be denied were they retrospectively reclassified as “unreal socialism.”
