Josep Borell: I know that you have encountered great concerns and in the minds of many citizens is the rise in prices. The war has created major disruptions in the world economy. It is not the consequences of being on the side of sanctions, but it is a process that started with rising prices, of energy, of fuel that is a consequence of interdependence and is now becoming clearer because Russia is using it as a weapon. This is a consequence of the war, the ban on exports, the rise in prices of products that affect us all. Let me illustrate with an example, I was paying the energy bill in Spain and 50 euros was there before and now it has gone to 500 euros. This has happened all over Europe, energy prices have risen at least 6 times. Fuel has a 20% increase, the same figures for food products. This will affect countries poorer than us, so we need to come together for a strategy.
I took note of a response to the Western Balkans to this crisis. If we look at the eastern borders, Poland today has managed to have as many refugees as it has become the country in Europe with the highest percentage of refugees in Europe. We have expected more than 2.5 million individuals. The Russian army rotates and destroys. This is going to be the biggest humanitarian crisis, so we need to do 3 things to isolate Russia, set high costs of sanctions, and support those peoples who are supporting us in these major efforts.
For the economic investment plans, I kept a note and the will for the infrastructure to open Albania in this physical space of the whole region. It is these initiatives that can address or confront the consequences of war in the region and beyond.
