Russia’s offensive in Ukraine “has stalled on all fronts,” the UK Defense Ministry said on March 17.
In its assessment, it was said that Russian forces “have made minimal progress on land, sea or air in recent days and continue to face heavy losses.”
“The Ukrainian resistance remains well-coordinated. “Most of Ukrainian territory, including major cities, continues to be in Ukrainian hands.”
The Ukrainian military has said Russia’s efforts are now focused on airstrikes, bombing civilian areas, as it says the Russian military has not been successful in ground operations.
Moscow has said it has identified 500 Russian soldiers dead so far.
US intelligence estimates that some 7,000 Russian personnel have died since the start of the war.
More than 3 million people have fled Ukraine since Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.
Putin has ordered a “special operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.
The Kremlin action has sparked outrage and been condemned in many parts of the world.
The United States and its allies have responded with harsh sanctions against Moscow.
