Opposition leaders in Britain today demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a series of remarks in parliament, following the holiday scandal in the prime minister’s garden, when the government claimed a “maximum alert” for coronavirus infections.
Johnson offered a “deep apology” but refused to resign, for the secret celebrations held in the prime minister at a time when he was tightening vaccination measures for the public.
The leader of the Labor opposition called the Prime Minister a “man without shame” for declaring as a “working event” the holiday filled with alcoholic beverages in May 2020.
Labor leader Keir Starmer said he did not want to see what it looked like for the millions of Britons who followed Covid’s measures and could not even say goodbye to dying relatives.
He called the apology “worthless” and mocked Johnson, who accepted it only after “months of lies and manipulation.”
“Will he do the right thing now and resign? “The prime minister is a man without shame,” said Starmer, asking for the first time the head of the conservative.
