The nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, Ukraine, has been under Russian control since early March. This poses a great risk, as active attacks can bring about an explosion with catastrophic consequences.
The head of the UN nuclear watchdog said there was a “clear risk to safety and safeguards” at the nuclear power plant.
According to CNN, Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi has stated that five of the seven essential pillars of nuclear safety are at stake.
He stressed that he is working to reach an agreement which will prevent possible disasters.
