The UEFA Conference League trophy has arrived in Tirana and the emotion of Albanians is growing, while the Albanian Football Federation is preparing to organize this historic event as UEFA official partner for the international final.
The President of FSHF, Armand Duka, in an interview for the prestigious Italian newspaper “Corriere dello Sport” says that the reception of a UEFA final in our country is an excellent result in terms of the image of Albania.
Under his leadership, Albanian football has achieved a historic qualification in the finals of the European Championship “France 2016” and now has a modern stadium, the National Arena, which will host the big match, AS Roma-Feyenoord.

– President, how is the atmosphere in the city of Tirana for the final?
– We are all really excited. This match for us started a year ago, with inspections by UEFA experts. All of Albania will have the opportunity to benefit from hosting an event of this level.
– How did you manage to convince UEFA to give you the final?
– We had previously tried to get the organization of the European Super Cup. In the second attempt we succeeded.
– However, the stadium is small. There was dissatisfaction from the fans…
– True, it’s small, but it’s a real gem. Even the representatives of the club of Rome, when they came to visit it were surprised by the facilities that this plant offers. Unfortunately there will be no room for everyone.
– It seems that another problem is the increase in prices of hotels and apartments for rent, with cancellations made in order to earn as much money.
– This story of booking cancellations seems to me like an urban legend. On the other hand, for the prices I understand: if you go to Paris for the Champions League final or to Milan for the fairs, the same thing happens.
– UEFA has distributed most of the final tickets to the Albanian public.
– In fact, this is an advantage for Rome, because many Albanians have bought tickets for their Italian friends.
– So you too will cheer for Rome or not?
– Of course. Even since the beginning of the UEFA Conference League edition. I hope it’s the Italian club to win the trophy, although the finals are never predictable. Just look at what happened in the Europa League final, Eintracht-Rangers. But Mourinho has the strongest player.
– Which?
– Plum, of course. I hope he plays in this final, he is one of the pillars of our National Team.
– Let’s stop for a moment at Albanian football, what is the reason that for ten years you have chosen only Italian coaches for the National Team?
– Because they are disciplined, very tactically prepared and know our mentality well. We also do not have a language problem with them.
– So, will you move forward with Edi Reja?
– Of course. He has our faith. It is unfortunate we did not qualify for very little in the World Cup play-offs: we were penalized by that loss to Poland.
– In Italy there is a large group of Albanian footballers who seem to have a good perspective.
– Already yes, but this does not surprise me. In your country there are 130 thousand Albanians who play football, a figure similar to those who play here in Albania.
– Is there any Albanian talent waiting to explode?
– Armando Broja, Chelsea striker born in 2001. He has already shown excellent skills in Southampton, where he is on loan and is already scoring with the Albanian national team./Supersport
