Albanian exports have started 2022 with growth. Data published by Instat show that in January the value of goods exported abroad reached 35 billion or about 288.5 million euros. compared to last January, they increased by more than 90.7 million euros.
The largest impact on the positive performance of trade in goods was given by exports of minerals and fuels by over ALL 9.3 billion, the group that has recorded the largest increase compared to the same period a year ago, ALL 5.8 billion more.
Exports of construction materials and metals also increased last month, as their value reached about 53.5 million euros.
The fason industry on the other hand does not seem to have fully recovered from the consequences of the crisis, as the growth of textile and footwear exports has been moderate during January. In total, they exported ALL 10 billion worth of goods to partner countries, only EUR 6.5 million more than last January.
Exports to European Union countries have significantly expanded this period, reaching ALL 26.5 billion. Italy continues to dominate the list of partner countries to which the country exports more goods with 16.4 billion ALL in total, increasing by 4.4 billion ALL or over 36 million euros.
In addition, the value of exports to Kosovo and Germany has increased, as they have shrunk significantly to Spain by almost 13 million euros less last month.
While imports have increased by about ALL 10 billion compared to the same period of 2021, reaching the level of ALL 55 billion. However, compared to December last year, they have shrunk by ALL 33 billion.
The positive performance of exports of goods in this period has narrowed the country’s trade deficit to about ALL 20 billion, marking a decrease of 7.7% compared to the same period a year ago.
