Louie Suljoviç, 38, and his father Qazim Suljovi,, 68, from Ulcinj, were injured last Saturday in New York as they tried to rescue an elderly man from robbers.
The incident took place at their pizzeria in Queens, New York, where a 61-year-old woman fell prey to robbers. The father was stabbed nine times and along with the son received severe lung injuries. The elderly woman was also stabbed in the back by one of the robbers.
In a link to “Albania Live”, Louie says he would do the same whenever he sees that someone needs help.
“If anyone needs help, I will always do the same. As long as I help someone, for me there is no concern”.
Originally from Ulcinj, born in America, he says he is Albanian and will visit Albania whenever possible.
“I was born in the United States, my father emigrated to America, my father raised us in the right way to do the right thing. I have not visited Albania since 2020, I have visited Albania every summer. I prefer Ulcinj, where I have my relatives “.
The elderly woman told the police that the suspects had approached her from behind and after pushing her, they had torn her bag with a knife.
Father and son received praise from the City Council, while a foundation has been opened for them in GoFoundMe, to help Qazim recover.
“Louie and his father are among the best citizens of New York. “We thank them for their bravery and wish them a speedy recovery.” wrote on Twitter the American police.
