Greek police seized on Saturday morning a quantity of about 320 kg of cannabis sativa in the area of Epirus.
In the press release, the Hellenic police said that the narcotics were hidden inside an ambulance of a private clinic in the area of Epirus and were destined for the country’s capital, Athens.
It is learned that the amount of cannabis was loaded in the border area with Albania.
The driver of the ambulance, a 50-year-old Greek citizen, was handcuffed and 900 euros in cash, three mobile phones and two doses of cocaine for personal use were found.
Before the investigators, the detainee stated that he had received the narcotics from an Albanian citizen and would deliver them to Athens, to an address he had not yet learned.
He said traffickers would only notify him when the amount of drugs arrived in the capital.
In connection with the transport of the amount of narcotics he would be paid 300 euros per kilogram.
The Greek authorities are convinced that the Albanian criminal organizations continue the production of cannabis in our country, but they are very careful in terms of its transport, choosing tools and methods not previously explored by them.
The arrested person will be sent to court for security measures, while the investigations to uncover the traffic scheme will continue.
