On July 4, Americans celebrated the 246th anniversary of their country’s independence, and this important event for the USA was also celebrated by many Albanians across the Atlantic.
One of them is Mergim Lala, from Ferizaj, Kosovo, who has been living for more than three decades in Houston, Texas. Lala runs a family business, one of the most frequented pizzerias in the city of Houston, Brother’s Pizza. The latter, on the occasion of the anniversary of the USA’s independence, distributed free pizza to the police and firefighters. Lala told the media in Kosovo that she is grateful for the country where she spent half her life.
“America’s independence is a holiday, but also a day when solidarity is shown even more and we are grateful to each other. With this action, we wanted to thank those who, in many cases, risk their lives to protect us, the policemen and firefighters.”, he said, while adding that similar actions have been done in the past and will continue until the pizzeria exists. The district police region sent their thanks for the pleasant surprise, which arrived on a very important day for Americans.
