New Court Map / Manja: Will bring better use of public resources

This map, he said, will bring the courts closer to the people, increase quality and make the best use of public resources.

“The Working Group has done a commendable job, to guarantee the proximity of the individual to the court. We have taken care to guarantee that this proposal meets the objectives of the law, but to have a court map that is presented to the Albanian reality. The HJC should take care to maintain a counter where a court is foreseen, the Ministry of Justice in the analysis it has conducted, has also examined the criteria for guaranteeing access to justice and the need for the court to be as close as possible to the citizen. This proposal is the best balance, the proximity of the courts to the people, the increase of the quality and the best use of the public resources. Even at the Appeal level, based on demographic movements, 90% of citizens will have no one in the Tirana Appeal. This is the most balanced solution to have a court map, the essence of the right will be realized, it will bring the normalization of the workload, the hearings will not be postponed for a long time, reducing costst ”, said Manja.

During his speech he also stressed that the judicial reorganization should be carried out with the smallest financial bill.

‘Justice reform is in the consolidation phase. Through this package we created mechanisms for increasing the courts. The Albanian government has made its contribution to justice reform. We have set up a salary system at dignified levels. Now is the time for the investments we have made in the judicial system to translate into benefits for the citizens. We must ensure that citizens receive justice. The new court map is one of the main instruments. The revision of the map is a process dictated by the reality of the judicial system in the country to guarantee the maintenance of a fair balance and the possibility of access to justice“, Said Manja.
