US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby told reporters at a recent news conference that Ukraine had defended parts of the country “very cleverly, very skillfully, very creatively.”
“We have seen indications that the Ukrainians are going a little further offensive now. We’ve seen them now in places, especially south near Kherson, [ku] they have tried to regain territory. “
Kirby said Ukrainian forces had planned a counterattack and were now “moving in that direction.”
“The Ukrainians are exercising a very tough defense – the Russians have not achieved any of the strategic objectives they have set or certainly not without losses.”
