The 21-year-old suspected of killing six people and injuring dozens more at the Fourth of July parade seems to have warned of the serious event.
He posted a video showing the location of the attack before the mass shooting, according to Sky News.
Robert E Crimo III, 21, was arrested by police hours after he fired into the crowd during the festivities in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
Accounts appearing to belong to Crimo had violent and bizarre online videos, including violently drawn animations.

The video showing Central Avenue, where the shooting took place, was filmed almost a year before the attack.

It appears to have been filmed early in the morning and shows the street empty except for American flags fluttering in the wind.

In the video, he is carrying a backpack. These bags have been installed in some US schools in an effort to combat serious school incidents, as they make it more difficult to conceal a gun.
The song Spirit in the Sky accompanies the video and begins with the lyrics “When I die and they lay me to push/ Gonna go to the place that’s the best.”/ “When I die and they lay me to rest I will go to the best place.”

A second video, uploaded in October of last year, combines a number of videos into one.
In a booming voice he says: I am breaking through… my actions will be bold and my thinking is unnecessary. I know what I have to do.”
In the background is a newspaper clipping on the wall marking the death of Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who shot US President John F Kennedy in 1963.

Oswald fired on the presidential parade while hiding on the sixth floor of a building.
Crimo’s reference to the assassin of the former president appears to be part of a broader interest in presidents and patriotism.
He uploaded a video of himself in 2020 waiting for Donald Trump to leave Air Force One and captured the moment the then-president drove by.
There is also a photo of him attending a rally for former President Trump. American flags appear in many of his videos.

Crimo is a rapper and in one of his music videos he holds an American flag behind him after commenting on school shootings.

Another video uploaded in 2020 contains a comment about “enemies in the US”.
In it, Crimo films himself looking up and close to the camera during a remix of people talking and music.
At the end, he suddenly blinks repeatedly as the recording asks “who do you see as the enemies of freedom in the US?”

This content uploaded by Crimo was easily found despite social media platforms taking swift action to take down his accounts.
He seems to have deliberately created an archive of content that would be simple to find with basic internet search skills.
Crimo used the stage name “Wake Up”. He made many accounts under his various names and created at least two blogs that indexed his content.
A specific YouTube account was also created under a third name.
At the end of an 18-minute long video, in which he builds a cabin near his family home, he says “Goodbye, Mr. FBI Agent.”
Krimo’s motive for building his archive is still unknown.
The parade started at 10:00 a.m. local time and was interrupted 10 minutes after shots were fired. Hours after the Chicago shooting, two police officers were injured in Philadelphia during July 4th celebrations.
Many of the witnesses said that they initially thought the shots were fireworks. But only when they saw some bloodied people did they realize that there was a person shooting from a distance.
