European Parliament President Roberta Metsola on Monday voiced the EU parliament’s support for Ukraine amid warnings of a Russian invasion.
“The position of this house is clear, we are with Ukraine,” she said. She demanded that “Ukraine’s opposition be consistent with its continued determination and European unity.”
“What we are witnessing is a serious threat to peace in Europe,” she added.
Metsola called for a de-escalation of the current tension, but said the European Parliament was “ready to support swift, strong and concrete action”.
“We do this in coordination with other European institutions and the international community if the situation worsens,” she added.
