SPAK has completed the investigation for the judge of the Court of Appeal of Korca, Mimoza Margjeka, who is accused of receiving 6000 euros for changing the security measure of a defendant.
Accused of corruption are also Nejton Bali, Klaudjo Zhilla and Skënder Demiraj, who in cooperation with each other gave the money to the judge through her husband, Arben Cara, also a defendant.
Judge Margjeka benefited from this amount of money for the change of the security measure from that of “prison arrest” to that of “property guarantee”, against the citizen Orion Bali, arrested for the criminal offense of “Assistance in illegal border crossing”.

The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime on 26.02.2021 has completed the investigation and submitted a request for sending to court the criminal proceeding no. 186/2020, against the defendants:
Mimoza Margjeka and Arben Cara, accused of committing the criminal offense of “Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other officials of the judiciary”, in collaboration, provided by Article 319 / ç and 25 of the Criminal Code.
Nejton Bali, Klaudjo Zhilla and Skënder Demiraj, accused of committing the criminal offense of “Active corruption of judges, prosecutors and other justice officials”, in collaboration, provided by Articles 319 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
The defendants Nejton Bali, Klaudjo Zhilla and Skënder Demiraj, are accused that in cooperation with each other, they gave the defendant Mimoza Margjeka, as a judge, while exercising her functions in the Korça Court of Appeal, through her husband, the defendant Arben Cara , an amount of money of 6,000 (six thousand) euros, as illegal benefit.
This amount of money was given in order to change the security measure from that of “prison arrest” to that of “property guarantee”, against the citizen Orion Bali, arrested by the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance Pogradec, for the criminal offense of “Assistance for illegal border crossing”, provided by Article 298/3 of the Criminal Code. In exchange for the illegal benefit, it turned out that the Korça Court of Appeals changed the security measure from arrest in prison to that of property guarantee, for this citizen.
