Albania, in recent days, is facing a high number of new coronavirus infections.
On Friday, January 14, this country recorded the highest number of cases ever within 24 hours, since the beginning of the pandemic.
Seven people lost their lives and 2,179 new cases were registered, after testing 7,626 samples.
The Technical Committee of Experts has decided not to change the austerity measures, although the country has recorded the week that has reached the peak of infections in two years, since the outbreak of the pandemic.
From the meeting of this Committee it was said that “the level of protection measures is in line with the epidemiological developments in the country, so there will be no difference of anti-COVID restrictions”.
“Currently, the flu virus and three COVID variants are circulating in the country, which are making a high level of transmission in the country. The weekly and biweekly incidence have multiplied, but this has not been reflected in hospitalizations. “This high incidence has reflected the highest peak of the pandemic encountered in the country in two years”, said the Deputy Minister of Health, Eugena Tomini.
Measures to prevent the spread of the deadly disease that are in force in Albania are curfew from 23:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning, the forced use of masks indoors and allowing gatherings of no more than 50 people.
In the previous 24 hours, 824 citizens were cured, bringing the number of cured to 206,384, since the beginning of the epidemic.
The Ministry of Health called on citizens to be vaccinated.
Every citizen over 16 years old can be vaccinated in Albania.
Vaccination is also open to children over 12 years old with immune system problems, with a doctor’s recommendation.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 228,777 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Albania.
