Approximately 3 and a half tons of red peppers from Albania will be buried in the Serbian state. On January 17, before the exporter Rrapi Hazizi started the truck with 10 different vegetables to Serbia, he analyzed them in an accredited laboratory. According to this analysis sheet red pepper is qualitative.
On January 19, the Serbian food control institution decided to restart the truck that was loaded with vegetables, the analysis showed that the red pepper had a high load of pesticides.
Agronomists say that the more time I spend, the easier it is for the active substance of the pesticide to decompose. But strangely the second analysis made in Serbia showed the opposite.
Although the exporter requested a re-analysis of the product in another EU country, this request was rejected by the Serbian state, as a result of which the decision was made to bury the red pepper.
Rrapi Hazizi: We did not worry about why the Serbian state does the analysis, it will normally ask for the best for the consumer, but when we ask for another analysis, the result can not be higher than the first analysis. And the second thing that has killed us the most is that when we asked for analysis in another country like Italy or Greece, we were surprised that our communication was cut off.
Do you think this action was biased?
Rrapi Hazizi: No, I think it may have been wrong.
According to Open Balkan, our phytosanitary certificates should be recognized in Serbia as well, what happened, they did not trust the analysis you did in Albania?
Rrapi Hazizi: No, they did not believe us even though we had done the tests in an accredited laboratory.
The economic damage done to the exporter Rrapi Hazizi amounts to 9 thousand euros, he says that after this event the Albanian Ministry of Agriculture has contacted the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, to ask for correctness in the food control of Albanian agricultural products.
